Community grants
Community grants
Our community grants programs offer funding for projects and initiatives bringing social, road safety and environmental benefits to local communities near our roads.
From disability support, education and health initiatives, to refugee organisations, domestic violence support, animal welfare and driver training, we support a wide cross section of our community.
Community connectivity
Community Connectivity
Through our projects we’ve focused on incorporating green spaces, cycle and pedestrian paths, and public art and lighting to enhance community spaces and improve connectivity.
Through our projects, we have:
- Created 35 hectares of parkland and playgrounds, activating new and existing public spaces.
- Installed almost 1,500 kilometres of pedestrian and cycle paths, including two educational cycle parks to help kids get up to speed on basic road safety in a mock environment. These parks were designed to resemble real roads, each path having traffic signs, line marking and a mini–Gateway Bridge and Logan River Red bridge.
- Lit up public spaces by installing 26 different artworks and colour-lighting systems.
Celebration of Country
Celebration of Country
When we plan a major project we consider the First Nations culture and history of the Country our roads are built on, and we look for opportunities to incorporate these into the project’s urban design.
We engage with local First Nations artists to understand the connection between our infrastructure and the land it is built on, to strengthen the bond between communities. Some of our projects that feature these unique designs are:- WestConnex M4-M8 Link (Sydney)
- West Gate Tunnel (Melbourne)
- WestConnex Motorway Control Centre (Sydney)
Environmental initiatives
Environmental initiatives
As a legacy of the Logan Enhancement Project, we’ve enhanced koala habitats in our local communities by planting more than 128,000 trees across Brisbane, including along the Gateway and Logan motorways.
The joint initiative with Brisbane City Council has seen around 146 hectares of bushland enhanced across South East Queensland.
As part of the project, we also invested in fauna bridges and wildlife crossings, designed to help native animal species move safely throughout the corridor.
