We do more than just build road infrastructure. We are committed to enhancing local communities and leaving a positive impact.
Community grants
We heard from community members that you would like to see improvements to a range of community facilities, services and initiatives across the project alignment. That’s why we will be establishing a community grants program during construction of the Logan West Upgrade.
The program will support charitable organisations and initiatives that deliver road safety, financial inclusion, environmental sustainability and First Nations benefits to the local communities across the project’s alignment.
Applications will be open twice a year during the construction phase, for organisations located within Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich City Council regions.
More information will be provided on the Logan West Upgrade community grants program as the project progresses.
Celebration of Country
Cultural heritage preservation is a priority at Transurban.
We engage with local First Nations artists to understand the connection between our infrastructure and the land it is built on, to strengthen the bond between communities. Some of our projects that feature these unique designs are:
- Westlink M7 (Sydney)
- WestConnex M4-M8 Link (Sydney)
- West Gate Tunnel (Melbourne)
- WestConnex Motorway Control Centre (Sydney)
For Logan West Upgrade, we’ll continue to work closely with Traditional Owners and local First Nations groups as the project progresses to ensure cultural sites and heritage values are respected.
Environmental initiatives
As a legacy of the Logan Enhancement Project, we’ve supported koala habitats in our local communities by planting more than 128,000 trees across Brisbane, including along the Gateway and Logan motorways.
The joint initiative with Brisbane City Council has seen around 146 hectares of bushland enhanced across South East Queensland.
In response to community feedback, our reference design retains existing fauna crossings and exclusion fencing where possible. We’ll also introduce new fauna exclusion fencing where needed to help guide animals safely to crossing points and reduce the risk of road accidents, ensuring safe passage for wildlife across the corridor.
