Transurban is partnering with the Queensland Government to develop plans to upgrade approximately 10km of the western section of the Logan Motorway, between Formation Street and the Mount Lindesay Highway.
When completed, the project is expected to improve travel times, reduce congestion and improve road safety.
Why is the project needed?
Significant population growth and economic development within South East Queensland is increasing pressure on our transport network. If nothing is done to ease traffic congestion, average speeds across key sections of the Logan Motorway will reduce to 15km per hour during peak periods by 2031.
With an estimated 210,000 trips made on the Logan Motorway daily, and expected increases in traffic by 35% by 2041, the project is crucial in ensuring the motorway’s efficiency and safety for years to come.
Current project details
- Adding an additional lane in each direction along the Logan Motorway between Centenary Motorway and the Mt Lindesay Highway
- Adding an additional lane westbound between Boundary Road and Formation Street
- Upgrading key interchanges including Formation Street, to cater for growing community and industrial hubs
- Installing new smart motorway technologies
- Motorway enhancements to allow improved access for over-dimensional vehicles.
